A dalt Paul McCartney írta 1968 tavaszán az akkor 5 éves Julian Lennon-nak, miután apja elhagyta addigi családját, hogy összeköltözzön Yoko Ono-val. A „Hey Jude” nagyon népszerű volt, hisz az első három évben 40 jazz változat készült belőle. Ebből 31-et találtam meg a neten.
